Q&A with LVC Owner Chris Long

A short conversation about where Las Vegas Crating & Logistics started, what's changed, and what stays the same after four decades in the packing and shipping business.

Every business has an origin story, and ours starts a long way from the Las Vegas Strip. We sat down with LVC owner Chris Long to talk about how a small packing and shipping shop grew into a full-service crating and logistics operation trusted by some of the biggest names on the Strip.

Q: Where did Las Vegas Crating & Logistics actually begin?

A: The roots go back to 1985, to a packing and shipping shop called Box Brothers in Santa Monica, California. That original business was focused on the fundamentals — packing items carefully and getting them where they needed to go without damage. Those same fundamentals are still at the core of how LVC operates today, more than 25 years into serving the Las Vegas market.

Q: How did the business end up in Las Vegas?

A: Las Vegas has a unique logistics footprint. Between the resort corridor, convention business, and constant flow of freight in and out of the valley, there was a clear need for a company that could handle custom crating and shipping at a professional level, not just retail packing. Las Vegas Crating & Logistics grew to meet that need, building out capabilities specifically for the kind of high-value, high-stakes shipments the local market demands.

Q: What's changed the most since those early days?

A: The scale and the client list. What started as a shop built around walk-in packing and shipping has grown into a company that designs and builds custom crating for art, trade show exhibits, casino equipment, and other high-value freight, on top of broader logistics and transportation services. LVC now works with major Las Vegas resorts and properties, including Wynn, Aria, Caesars, Hard Rock, and Mandalay Bay. Q: What hasn't changed?

A: The basic promise. Whether it was a single box going out of a Santa Monica storefront in 1985 or a custom crate built for a resort property today, the standard is the same: handle it like it matters, because to the customer, it does. That's the same mindset the team operates with every day at the Polaris Avenue facility.

Q: What's next for the company?

A: Continued growth in the crating and logistics side of the business, and continued investment in the team that makes it possible. As Las Vegas keeps growing as a business and events hub, LVC intends to keep growing alongside it. For anyone interested in being part of that, the company's careers page has current openings.
